Road Closure – extended to Dover Road – A258 Deal Road, St Margaret’s at Cliffe, Dover – between Dover Road and The Animal Inn Kennels at Oxney Bottom.
Please note the closure has been impacted/delayed by the gas leak on London Road, Deal with overnight closures now expected until the 25th April.
This is to let you know that, as part of the on-going maintenance and improvement of the highway network, Kent County Council will be resurfacing part of A258 Deal Road between Dover Road and The Animal Inn Kennels at Oxney Bottom.
The A258 between the Duke of York Roundabout and Dover Road will have what we call a ‘soft closure’ so it will be open as through route up to Dover Road. The idea of this is to try and capture all traffic before and tell them they cannot use the A256 from Dover Road onwards going east so they must use the signed diversion.
The work is programmed to start on the 11th April 2023 and should take 7 week days (excluding weekends) to complete, ending on the morning of 20th April 2023
All activities will be undertaken between the hours of 8.00pm and 5am each day.
This type of work can be affected by bad weather, so if it is not possible for us to carry it out at this time, we will arrange a new date and let you know via a letter drop to your home. We will also put-up signs along the road, before we start, showing the date we plan to start work.
During these essential works it will be necessary to close the road so that we can carry out the works safely for both the workforce and road users.
The diversion route will be via and A258, A256, A2 and vice versa.
There will be limited access/egress to properties along the road whilst works are in progress however there will be an on-site Traffic Management Team to direct traffic and allow movement of vehicles when safe to do so.
