St Margaret’s Garden Safari
Saturday/Sunday (24/25 June 2017)
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
St Margaret’s Garden Safari has been a popular biennial village charity event for the last 12 years. it is planned to hold a further event in June 2017 which will be organised by the Rotary Club of South Foreland.
All proceeds will go to Pilgrims Hospice, an organisation which provides free care and comfort to over 2,300 people in East Kent. Provision of this free care is dependent on raising £11 million a year, the majority of which comes through the generosity of the local community, including fund raising events such as the St Margaret’s Village Garden Safari.
Over the years that the St Margaret’s community has organised this event more than £50,000 has been raised for this good cause.
The success of the event relies on the willingness of sufficient village residents to open their gardens to the public for the 2 days.
This may at first seem a bit daunting but in reality previous participants have found involvement very satisfying and enjoyable. You may simply open your garden for visitor enjoyment or, as some have done in previous years, host in your garden some additional supporting features such as having crafts, plants, or bric-a-bac stalls, or selling light refreshments, or some other fund raising idea that may help to raise funds for the charity. Whatever you may feel able to do you will be provided with full support from South Foreland Rotary members, both before and during the event.
Only your garden and not your house will be open and you will be covered by insurance arranged by Rotary Club of South Foreland.
If you are able to participate, by either helping on the weekend or opening your garden please make contact with either James Rouse or Mike Reeves.
