Temporary Overnight Road Closures – A256 Whitfield Interchange, Whitfield, Dover – from 23 October 2019 – 7 nights
Overnight closures of A256 Whitfield Interchange, Whitfield, are planned from Wednesday 23 October 2019 for up to 7 consecutive nights, from 8.00 pm through until approximately 6.00 am each night.
A256 Whitfield Interchange and all slip-roads linking it to the A2 Trunk Road will be fully closed to all traffic.
~ There will be no direct access between the A2 Trunk Road and the A256 to Sandwich and Thanet during these works ~
The alternative route for all through traffic is via A2 Dover Road, Duke of York’s Roundabout, A258 Deal Road, Dover Road, The Strand, Victoria Road, Ranelagh Road, (Deal Castle Road in opposite direction), Prince Of Wales Terrace, Beach Street, Broad Street, Queen Street, London Road, Sandwich Road, Deal Road, A256 Sandwich Road, Eastry Bypass and Whitfield Bypass.
Access to Honeywood Road and Honeywood Parkway is via A2 Trunk Road and Whitfield Roundabout.
The closures are to enable Kent County Council to carry out carriageway strengthening and resurfacing works.
The works have been timed to be carried out overnight, to reduce their impact
Some delays are likely, especially earlier in the evenings, so it is recommended that motorists allow extra time for their journeys or consider using alternative routes during these works.
These works are weather dependent, and if adverse conditions prevent works being fully completed within the planned dates given, the duration may need to be extended or some works re-scheduled.
