As a memorial to the late Sir William Thomas Madge, a large piece of land at St Margaret’s Bay, presented to the public by Sir Frank Madge.
Sir William took a big interest in the development of St Margaret’s, and the gift will preserve a beautiful cliff and sea view.
The inscription on the stone on Madge Field reads:
This land to be free for all time, a free and open space is presented. And this stone is erected in memory of
Sir William Thomas Madge, 1st Baronet of St Margaret’s Bay County Kent
Born 6th October 1845, Died 29th January 1927
By his Grandson Sir Frank William Madge, 2nd Baronet 1928
